Following the two subsequent
releases of Travel in Any Direction
on WM
Recordings in the Netherlands
and Repellent
Communications of Sea Creatures on Unlabel
in England Two children moving in opposite
directions brings a first fantastic
trilogy by The Century of Aeroplanes
to an end and we are so proud to release a limited deluxe CD-r of these very precious and
special
recordings. As the title of the album suggests, this LP wilfully blurs the horizon by blending different but totally coherent styles, soundscapes and instrumental compositions and the bewitching music penned by the ensemble can be as unsettling as the dark and liquid atmospheres on SYR3 by Sonic Youth (« The Last Computer Program », « Living in a Cozy Asylum »).
But it also comprises dynamic serial compositions which call to mind « Different trains » by Steve Reich (notably in the hypnotic « 41 figures ») or else a franticly-driven electric violin solo that would make Tony Conrad’s flesh creep (the unrestrained « Spelling Bee Stings »).
Also able to pull the brakes, the atmosphere may become “Japanese-like” in the delicate “Postcard” or totally meditative (« It was surprisingly clean », « 100 More years »).
A mind-blowing LP, available in a refined deluxe cd-r edition with insert comprising artwork by the artist, which finishes to assert the expression of a fascinating and complex personality.
