A music essentially based on
repetition, the use of electric guitars that are out of tune or
alternatively tuned and coupled with an eternal delay / loop, allows
combinations and the interweaving of infinite sources; the specificity
of the trilogy of the « Pièces pour guitare
préparée » being that it incorporates the hazardous
factor that is linked to improvisation.
This second volume opens on a spacious and complex
improvised theme (« …(for K.) »), blending radical
guitar breakaway and harmonic motifs close to those of Glenn Branca.
One also finds new pieces which stage the repetition of patterns that
are subtly altered (“Felicity”) . The reflexion on
fragmentation goes on with restless manipulations of cut and pasted
guitar licks (« Jetlag 1 », « Sans phonie a+b+c=d
»), the source of which remains mysterious , the textures, close
to Dorine Muraille or gel: , being as dense as can possibly be.
The main piece (« He shows me his sister in a Jerry
Springer show”) unfolds magical arpeggios while a discreet voice
telling you unlikely stories of hazardous encounters in San
Francisco : « Leather sofas, banana juice… »
